Online Video Poker
Online video poker is nearly identical to the game found in casinos. While some live poker players miss the tells of their opponents in online play, online video poker players are simply playing against the cards the same way casino video poker players do.
Don't know how to play online video poker? The rules are really quite simple. Once you place your bet, you are dealt a five card hand. After you see your hand, you have the opportunity to draw. Drawing lets you replace any of the cards you feel are not strong enough for your final poker hand; most games will let you replace up to five of your five cards, although a few online video poker games require you to hold onto at least one of your original cards.
After you draw to replace your cards, the game tells you whether you have a winning hand or not. The payout for a win depends on the hand the winner is holding. So, the better your poker hand, the higher the value and the more your winnings will be. Of course, the payout also depends on the rules of the particular game and the amount of your original bet.
The best possible hand in video poker is a Royal Straight. This is an Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten of the same suit and is quite rare. Each game pays different amounts, for different winning hands; sometimes variations of the games affect the odds. For example, many online video poker games consider a pair, Jacks or higher, a winning hand. However, others require at least Two Pairs for a win. Sometimes it is dependent on whether the game allows wild cards since they change the odds of getting a high pair dramatically. Other online video poker games offer additional bets such as the chance to play double or nothing on your winning hand.
